Train Lifting Equipment (TLE) Human Factors Assessment

HKRP was engaged by MTR to undertake a human factors and ergonomics assessment regarding the proposed lifting height of the Train Lifting Equipment and maintenance activities that will be undertaken by the Significant Contractor while using this equipment.

This scope of this engagement included:

  • activities requiring the use of the train lifting equipment to access the underframe equipment including the bogies
  • activities required to allow the raising/lowering of the bogies from vehicle and other underframe equipment
  • maintenance activities relating to the movement of the bogies at rail level (when not installed on cars) where entrapment risks could occur.

The report required for this assessment outlined the following: Assumptions, Anthropometric data utilized, List of maintenance tasks considered, Ergonomics Assessment, and Recommendations.
